From the Commander:
Ken White

Welcome to April! For many this is the true beginning of Spring and the hot weather…here in Middleburg it seems that happened a couple of weeks ago! This month will be a busy month for our American Legion Post and we look forward to the many events we are hosting.

To start, we are hosting an Open House with 20-25 organizations coming to talk to our members and the public about what they do. Some of these organizations include K-9 Line, Hope therapy, Operation Barnabas, Our Clay County Veteran Services Officers, as well as our own TALARC team (The American Legion Amateur Radio Club). It promises to be a great time and there will be a lot of great information to share.

Then, the next week (08 April) we will be hosting our annual Month of the Military Child Children’s Easter Carnival for Middleburg. This event is open to the public and will be more fun to be had for our families and children in the area.

Next up will be our first BIG fund raiser of the year: Claystock on 22 April. This will take a big effort from all that can help to ensure it goes as smooth as it did last August. While we are hosting the event, it is being put together by East Coast Warrior Foundation to raise funds for St Michaels Soldiers. Here’s a little information about the organization: “Michael’s Soldiers is dedicated to the support of the deployed men and women of our United States Military, local active military, and their families.” You can find more information at: https://stmichaelssoldiers.org

As we move forward with our busy agenda, we can not forget those that we have lost in the past couple of months: Diana Garley (TAL); Renee Dotesch (Aux) and Wade Wills (SAL). Please keep their families in your prayers.

In March we held our first round of nominations of the Officers you would like to see leading our Post for the 2023-2024 FY. Here is a current list of Nominees:
